Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We finished the challenge in pain, tired, sore but very happy. Thanks to all that have donated so far but if you have not yet donated My target is within reach so please, please, please give generously!!!!!! I really need your help.
Why did I do this:
Many years ago when my Father in Law was still alive (two Macho men together) I remember watching ‘Cilla’ on a Saturday night, Surprise Surprise. Each week we would sit and watch families struggle with difficulties in their lives, illness, loss and upset and each week we would both fight back the tears, often unsuccessfully. How many of you have been in a similar position? November 2009 I hosted The Mint Conference when something happened that would affect my life forever. I was introduced to a young mother who would be making a presentation on her sons life limiting illness and the impact it had on their lives. Her son attended my local hospice () where they give care to the child and support to the whole family. During the presentation a picture of her son came up on my monitor, this smiley face pulled at my heart strings. As with many other members of the audience that day, I was fighting back the tears, I have never seen so many men shuffle uncomfortably and need to clean their glasses in one room before!! This young happy face so full of life made me question myself, could I an overweight, middle aged, unfit man do something to help support families like this. I decided there and then to take up the challenge being promoted by Children’s Hospice to cycle from to oh dear what have I done!! The event will take place over three days 10th – 12th September 2010 covering a distance of approx 240 miles. Training is going well but is very painful (I have a very sore bum!!!) I am now trying to ride every day and increasing my distances. Today 1st August 2010 I rode 50 miles in 3 hours 39 mins on a challenging route through the .
