Story
Hi! Welcome to my fundraising page- So glad you could make it, whether you found me on the Disability Rights UK website, or I asked you politely at work to come visit, or you are someone I have run a charity race with in the past, or you’re my best bud – I’m still grateful you came to visit –
This year I decided it was time for me to be part of something bigger than myself, to raise more than I think I can, and to really give 2017 something positive to remember it by. I will be running a full marathon of 42.195 kilometres (or 26.2 miles for my American comrades) – The
Virgin London Marathon on April 23rd, 2017 –
I have decided to do something worthwhile with my time and running this marathon for Disability Rights UK was a great choice. This world is a better place because we have diverse people living in it, but we have to really make sure that we support in any way that we can. Disability Rights UK works with its members to influence national policy on independent living, benefits, education, employment, transport, human rights and other issues - shaping policy through direct experience and expertise. They also work with local individual and organization members to empower and to influence local policy and services. Check em' out @, https://www.disabilityrightsuk.org/.
As this is a mere 13 weeks away – training should have started a few weeks ago lol, but as they say, “(New York accent) Stephie, ya not gonna win the damn marathon anyways so just run it” – mom. I’ll keep you up to date on my adventures and I hope you can give what you can and support a charity that really does great things for great people. Even a message would mean a lot if you can’t support financially :-)
Thanks (I owe you a hug and maybe a coffee...maybe),
Stephanie
