My 'pledge' is to raise more accurate awareness of ME/CFS & Fibromyalgia through my upcoming website & blog and to raise money for the InvestinME charity- especially during International Awareness Week starting May 11th where a friend & I (Katherine) I will be holding an Awareness through the Arts event in Canterbury, Kent.

Those who know me well will know that I have been battling with ME/CFS/Fibromyalgia over the past few years and have STRUGGLED hugely with the disapointments and 'not knowing' that has come with it. Through support of my wonderful family, partner, therapist & some very understanding friends I have reached a place of peace and relative calm. A realization that focusing on the pain, frustration & dissapointment from the NHS & Medical Profession just adds to the struggle but life and relationships can still be enjoyed- just in smaller doses !

I have discovered a wonderful community on Twitter and Facebook where other sufferers share support and information and hope on 'bad days'. I have been so touched by these individuals and by the ability to 'reach' them too.

There are far too many other people, some much more severly affected than myself feeling they are just existing to fight their illness, completely left 'in the dark' due to VERY long waiting lists for services that merely offer support and not a cure or medical treatment for this horrible illness!

I'd love to think that with everyones WORLDWIDE efforts that there would be some changes in the governemnt healthcare policy, research grants, education and stigma for those affected by ME. After this date I intend to sell handmade cards, bespoke invitations & journals for this very good and exciting cause (Please see video link below for information on what they do and their plans for the future).
