Story
Brain tumours are indiscriminate; they can affect anyone at any age. What’s more, they kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer...yet historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this.
The impact of COVID-19 is now seriously threatening the income streams they rely on to support their vital research and campaigning. Brain Tumour Research has spent the last decade developing ‘discovery science’ in order to get closer to a cure. They get no Government funding and rely totally on the generosity of supporters and partners to help them progress. Prof Silvia Marino, the lead scientist at their Queen Mary University of London Centre said: “A break in funding for research into brain tumours now would have a devastating impact for years and years.”
Challenges:
Wear a Hat Day - 26th March 2021
We will be joining Brain Tumour Research in Wear a Hat Day on Friday 26th March to help raise vital funds and awareness for the charity.
10,000 Steps a Day - February 2021
We are delighted to be taking part in Brain Tumour Research's 10,000 steps a day in February fundraiser.
Walking is proven to impact positively on our fitness and wellbeing. By joining the challenge and completing 10,000 steps every day throughout the month, not only will we reap the health benefits, but we’ll also be supporting vital research into brain tumours.
We are going to complete our steps however and with whoever we like, ensuring we are following COVID-19 safety guidelines. We're encouraging our staff to head to their local parks to enjoy some fresh air, try and discover a new route every day or stay at home and complete the challenge around their house or garden. Our staff will be encouraged to step out on their own, walk with their household or meet up with their support bubble – whichever suits them best.
