Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. A group of mates were looking for a challenge to take on in the summer and unfortunately the decision was made to cycle the full length of the canal from Liverpool to Leeds, 127 miles in total.
Despite only Shane being a cyclist and the rest of us not being on a bike since our youth, on Saturday 20th August we will start the ride in Liverpool, stopping overnight in the glamorous Burnley Travelodge approx. 70 miles later for a few well earned beers before setting off again on Sunday to cycle the remaining 60 miles to Leeds.
Not only is this a personal challenge for us all but we are also raising money for CHECT (The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust).Back in September 2012 my son Callum was diagnosed at 10 months old with a form of eye cancer called Retinoblasthoma and had to have his right eye removed. Fortunately he has gone on to make a good recovery from this and it not affected by his artificial eye in any way.
CHECT did a superb job in supporting us as a family throughout that traumatic time and continue to support families affected by Eye Cancer as well as providing funding for research into the disease and therefore I try to raise money to support the excellent work they do.
