Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
A MASSIVE thank you to everyone who has supported this project. You have donated so much that we can now afford Defibrillator Paediatric Pads for use on children from 1 yr - 8 yrs as well as ensure that annual training is carried out. Any further funds will be kept to ensure the unit is always ready for use. If this is your first visit to the page, please read on.
In January this year, our future son-in-law, Nick (28 years old) suffered a cardiac arrest at a sports centre in Derby. A cardiac arrest (the stoppage of the heart muscle) can be triggered by many factors: a heart attack; an undiagnosed heart condition; a ball hitting the chest or head. It can affect any age group from teenager to pensioner and all ages between, player or spectator alike. This can be fatal if treatment is not commenced within five minutes of the collapse of the patient.
Luckily for Nick, there was defibrillator on site which was quickly used by trained people and this, combined with CPR, saved his life. An ambulance arrived very quickly, stabilised him and took him to the local hospital.
Stamfordham is a rural community in Northumberland. By the nature of its location, it takes time to get an ambulance here. The Stamfordham Sports Pavilion is the home of Stamfordham Cricket Club and Stamfordham Football Club, as well as being a venue for events, and it needs a defibrillator. The Club Cricket Charity and ECB have announced the second phase of its Defibrillator Supply Project. They will match fund the cost of a defibrillator to be placed at the pavilion. This offer is only available for a short period and so I'm asking for your help to raise funds to meet the cost. I do hope you can support by giving even a small amount to get this important piece of life-saving equipment in place as soon as possible. Thank you.
