Stagecoach London Charity Partnership 2018-20

Stagecoach London Charity Partnership 2018-20 · 27 June 2018
Stagecoach London has decided to partner with Macmillan Cancer Support. Together, we are hoping to do something good for people affected by cancer in the UK and we would love for you all to be part of it.
When someone has cancer, they don’t just worry about what will happen to their body, they worry about what will happen to their life. Macmillan knows how a cancer diagnosis can affect every aspect of the sufferer’s life and also that of their family. They are there to offer support during this difficult time, from help with money worries and advice about work to someone who’ll listen if they just want to talk.
One in two of us are likely to get cancer in our lifetimes and Macmillan’s ambition is to reach everyone who needs them - but they can’t do this without the help of people like us.
Macmillan receives no government funding and relies on generous donations from the public. We would like as many people as possible to help us with the aim of making the partnership a great success. If you are already involved in such activities in your Garage then why not become the Charity Champion at your workplace. We are looking for a Charity Champion at each location in London to help achieve our overall aim of raising £50,000 over the next two years.
As many of you will recall we sadly lost Martyn Henderson to cancer in July 2017. At the time many of you spoke about Martyn’s appreciation and gratitude of the support he received during his illness - and in particular the support and assistance he received from Macmillan. I am also aware that many of you hold fundraising events in your garages for cancer charities, such as coffee and cake sales, and it is a testament to our people that they take the time to do so.
We will be launching our specially wrapped Macmillan bus on route 86 as a tribute to Martyn and will be looking at other ideas and initiates over the next 12 months, so by becoming a Charity Champion, you will be part of the team leading on this.
