Story
My husband died suddenly on 19th December 2013. We were only married for 9 short weeks. I miss him terribly. Chris was healthy and yet a hidden, silent killer snatched him away much too soon. He took a massive heart attack aged only 46 years old.
I will be running 26.2 miles through the streets of London in Chris' memory, knowing that he will be cheering me along every single step. He was my biggest supporter in life and now I am going to give a little back in his honour. I've never run more than a 10K race before, so needless to say this journey will be one of early morning jogs, blistered feet and cold baths! I will be blogging about my journey to the start line (amongst other things) at www.soupyd.com - keep up with my progress through the winter and into the New Year.
My journey through the grief I have felt may seem a little different to you - I have to keep moving myself forward, and this is one of the ways I can do that. I know that on the hardest days, when I want to stay in bed and not put on my trainers, there will be a little voice in my head saying - "you're doing this for Chris" and that will push me out the door.
I have undertaken this huge personal challenge as a way to raise funds and more importantly awareness for this local Scottish charity. I have worked with them throughout 2014, raising over £4000 to date in Chris' memory - help me to add to this figure.
