Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page.
Sometimes in life there are things that happen, that we cannot stop!! Sometimes good & sometimes bad. The bad times are sent to test are strength, courage & determination.
Our bad time started in October 2013, when after a routine hospital appointment, our Dad/in law was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer, so it was terminal straight from the word go!!
Shock was an understatement, disbelief too. How can this happen to somebody in our family? It's something you hear on the TV, read in a magazine or someone telling you about another family! But no this was our family, it's happening to us. Your worst fears & nightmares all rolled into one and more.
Our Dad/in law was only 59 when he was diagnosed, no age really! People that know our Dad/in law Joey, know that he is the nicest gentlemen, so caring and friendly. He will go out of his way to help anybody, even complete strangers if he can. He's always there to ask advice about stuff, he is an inspiration, someone to look up to and he also loves to wind people up. (Believe us we have all been the butt of his jokes. 😁)
While we were all still in shock our Dad/in law Joey just carried on like normal, still helping us all. His Wife, 4 Children/Partners & 6 Grandkids & anybody else that needed it. 😄 He is the heart of our family adored, loved & cherished like you wouldn't believe.
In the last 2 weeks, we have been told that the hospital cannot do anything now. Our Dad/in law Joey can't have anymore treatment, chemotherapy because it gives him pneumonia.
Anybody who has been touched by any type of cancer, terminal or not. Will know what a great help & support the Macmillan team are. The nurses go out to peoples homes and see cancer sufferes on a daily basis, they are also on the end of a phone line, night & day!! There will be families that couldn't have gotten through their battle without Macmillans help. Our family is one of them, over the last 17 months they have been their for us. We cannot thank them enough!
Myself Stacey & my Sister in law Christine would like to do something for the Macmillan team. We are going to do a skydive each (we are terrified 🙈) & hopefully raise money, so we can give it to Macmillan. So we hope you will help us along the way by donating to our Just Giving page. Every penny will help & 100% of the donations will be going to Macmillan.
We are doing it on 4th August 2015 at Black Knights Parachute Centre, Lancaster. Anybody is welcome to come and support us
We hope to raise £600 & if it's more then that will be even better, because it shows you care for a good cause!!
Thanks for taking the time to read our page & your donations. Also could you please share our page. The more we raise, then the more Macmillan can do to help & support families.
We will keep you informed on our progress!
Once again thanks!
Stacey & Christine. X
