The Background:

Community Integrated Care is a fabulous charity that puts great effort into ensuring that the people they support live they lives they choose. They fully believe that it should be 'Your Life, Your Choice' for every individual.

I've had the privilege of working for this charity for 6 years and can hand on heart say that they strive to put the people they support at the heart of all they do. One of the mangers I was lucky to work with once stated

'I would walk over hot coals for the people we support'

So of course, we are now putting her to the test and myself and a number of colleagues are taking on a Fire Walk with her.

What will the money be used for:

Any money raised will go directly towards improving the lives of the people supported who could have learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, dementia and physical needs.

This could be to renovate a garden to make it useable all year round, gardening supplies, the provision of sensory equipment, assistive technology to improve independence or communication skills or even a trip to fulfil a goal or aspiration for an individual.

What's the challenge:

For those of you who don't know me too well, fire is quite a big fear of mine so this will be a significant mental challenge for me. I have seven (yes seven) fire alarms in my house and even have my own fire escape ladder which I purchased in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep  after watching a horror film!
