Story
St. Olave’s have chosen York Against Cancer as our school charity for 2013-2014.
York Against Cancer was set up in 1987 to help local people suffering from cancer in York.Sadly, cancer touches the lives of many people, either through a friend or relative, and York Against Cancer (YAC) wanted to make life easier for local people with the disease.
YAC work alongside York Hospital and the University of York to improve care and to fund research – there have been many great achievements so far.The Cancer Care Centre at York Hospital is run by YAC to provide complimentary therapies for patients, and they run a minibus to provide transport for those people who need to travel to Leeds for treatment, as well as funding and supporting research. They also work hard to improve education about cancer, and to spread the word about healthy living. Do visit their website to find out more. http://www.yorkagainstcancer.org.uk/
As a school, we have an opportunity to support a charity which does a huge amount for our local community.Having selected a charity that is very much at the heart of York, we will be working hard this year to raise money for York Against Cancer.
Please use this JustGiving page to donate to our school charity this year – it will enable YAC to claim giftaid on your donation and hopefully it will make it easier for you too!
