Story
On 30 April 2016 a group friends will attempt to cycle 140 miles Coast to Coast from Whitehaven to Tynemouth, in order to raise money for a local charity.
The group of lads Keith, Stu, Kevin, Dave, Lee, Brad, Micky, Ronnie, Jim and Alan all came together through friends of friends, convincing each other to do something challenging and worthwhile.
The majority of the group, less two, are all none cyclists, in fact the closest that some come to doing any sort of fitness is walking to the pub! They will attempt to cover the route over 2 days, making this a truly challenging event for the friends.
Their chosen charity is St Oswald’s Hospice because Keith’s nephew Aaron goes for much needed respite care on a monthly basis.
Aaron was born November 2011 with a rare chromosome partial deletion, an underdeveloped heart and a number of other issues. In May 2012 Aaron was admitted to the Freeman Hospital for life saving heart surgery. He was discharged in January 2013 after numerous operations. As a consequence of such intensive surgery and the need for long term medication, at such a young age, Aaron has been left needing lifelong care.
St Oswald's provides specialist care for local adults, young people and children. Situated in Newcastle upon Tyne, their purpose-built facilities offer a range of flexible services to North East families. They make no charge for any of their services, ensuring hospice care is available to everyone.
Without charitable support this fantastic charity could not offer this indispensable support to Aaron and his family. All donations of any amount that you can give to this amazing cause will be very much appreciated.
