Story
On September 5th 2020, we will once again be attempting the fabled South Downs Relay in aid of PHA UK.
7 glamorous runners will each tackle 11 hideously hilly miles of the South Downs Way, carrying a regularly sanitised baton from Beachy Head to Buriton.
It follows our successful effort to complete the 77 miles in 2018, when our generous donors put us in the top 3% of Justgiving pages that month. With your help we raised almost £3k for PHA UK in honour of our dear, and dearly missed, friend, Will. The runners this year will be a mixture of old hands from 2018's relay, as well as some exciting new entrants...
**UPDATE**Perhaps unsurprisingly, being 2020 after all, 3 of the original runners have fallen prey either to injuries, or worse; work commitments. Sadly neither David, Harry or Ollie are able to run their leg this year. The updated line up is below. Special thanks to Sam, Ella and Benny for rising to the challenge!
1. Stephanie Hughes - Eastbourne to Bostal Hill
2. Ella Croucher - Bostal Hill to Housedean Farm
3. Sam West - Housedean Farm to Saddlescombe
4. Kit Edwards - Saddlescombe to Pepperscombe
5. Benny Bruce - Pepperscombe to Houghton Wood
6. Annie Acres – Houghton Wood to Cocking Gap
7. Marcus Duffy - Cocking Gap to Buriton
Traditionally, the Relay ends with a boat race at the The Five Bells, Buriton. We have yet to establish exactly how this tradition will be upheld in accordance with social distancing but we will keep this page updated and hope to see some of you there.
Any contributions are welcomed, whether that’s a donation online, or supporting the runners and marshals out on the trails!
