Story
In 2018 Sophie became paralysed after diving into shallow water. In a split second her life changed, and she started the most difficult period of her life that she was ever to face. After experiencing a life changing injury your life becomes filled with fear, fear of your future and what it looks like. The unknown.
Shortly after Sophie broke her neck, John, her father, turned up at the doors of The Matt Hampson Foundations Get Busy Living centre asking for help. He was warmly welcomed by the foundation staff, they sat and chatted, John showed photos of all the amazing things Sophie gets up to and showed them how much he loved his Daughter. He just needed to help in whatever way possible. This is where it began, Sophie was now a part of the foundations family.
For the past 4 years Sophie has received continuous support in every element of her life from the foundation. She has had so many opportunities to experience things she never imagined possible in those moments after her injury. All that time lay in a hospital bed wondering how she'd cope. Matt and the foundation showed her that life really is worth living, and in fact, it's amazing. Without them Sophie doesn't think she'd be half the woman she is today.
The Matt Hampson Foundation is solely funded by donations, and the impact they have on people who experience life changing injuries is invaluable. Without the support of this generosity people like Sophie would live a more difficult and isolated life, and the charity needs more support to allow them to help more people get busy living like they did Sophie.
And that's why together we are running the marathon, to enable more people to benefit from the incredible Matt Hampson Foundation.
Thank you all so much for reading, sharing and donating to this cause.
