Sophie's Story

This time last year we were excitedly waiting to meet our little girl. Sophie Duggan arrived at 11.13am on the 3rd of April 2019. She was perfect, with beautiful dark brown eyes, cute button nose and the softest skin. We were over the moon and totally in love. 

Sophie had been diagnosed with heart condition at our 20 week scan & we were prepared for the fight we had on our hands. What we weren't prepared for were further complications with Sophie’s little heart that were discovered when she was born.  

This meant we had one very special precious week with our beautiful baby girl filled with cuddles and kisses and stories and love and tears and laughter. We spent that week in the Children's Heart Center in Crumlin. It was our home. The care and support the staff gave to Sophie, her Parents and her extended family & friends for the time we had was above and beyond what we could have asked for at such a heartbreaking time. 

Now coming up to what would have been Sophie's first birthday, though we can't be with family and friends to mark this special day as we had hoped, we wanted to do something special to remember, and celebrate Sophie and to thank the amazing staff in Crumlin. What the staff in the health care profession do is truly amazing and we know that now more than ever, true super heroes. From Sophie, Joyce and Sean we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you did for our family .
