Story
In the midst of university work stress and end of term deadlines, I sat back and thought, when was the last time i did something just because?
So I have decided to take part in the GREAT MANCHESTER RUN in aid of the Christie Hospital on the 26th may.
The primary inspiration for the run is Anthony McHugh, who would have been turning 46 this year, only missing this birthday after tragically losing a long and stubborn battle with cancer in September 2010.
To quote, 'only the good die young' is a perfect way to explain the brilliance that is missing from the world since my dad passed. Due to the effects of a battle with initial madullary thyroid cancer, and secondary lung and liver cancer a wonderful father, friend and listener and more importantly fighter, took on his cancer by sticking two fingers up at it!
My dad,my best friend, may not be on earth anymore, but hes in my heart and reflects on everything I do. Soo whats a little run in aid of the christie, whos staff, care and therapy gave my father, our family and myself a smile?
The christie gives hope to so many people affected by cancer, and my own personal history...so to say a THANKS I, with the help of any contributions, just want to give a little back.
A penny, A pound?
