EDIT:17/02/2023 Thank you so much to each and every person who donated. Today we put the leaf with Dad’s name up onto the Tree of Hope at The Christie. We believe it is the perfect tribute for someone who spent the majority of the last 8 years of his life there. He would have been so proud. We are thrilled to have raised so much money for an incredible cause. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

EDIT: THANK YOU SO MUCH! We reached our year’s target of £4,000 in an incredible 3 weeks! My Dad would be so proud. Now we move on to our long-term goal of raising £15,000. Thank you again.

In December 2014, after just turning 57,my darling Dad was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia . Over the 7 and a half years that followed, he would go on to fight the same horrific disease 8 times. He survived months and months of intensive chemotherapy,numerous infections and sepsis,bone marrow transplants, a stroke and even skin cancer.  

During these years, Dad spent many,many months at a time in isolation in The christies hospital. The care he received from them was incredible. They treated him like a friend or member of family and not just a patient. The doctors left absolutely no stone unturned and went above and beyond the call of duty for him. We are forever indebted to them for the care and kindness they showed.

Sadly, on 22nd May 2022, my Dad passed away. He was an incredible man who fought against the very slim odds and did it all with a smile on his face. An amazing husband, Dad and Grandad- he was so, so loved. He also achieved incredible things over his career in aviation and has left a truly incredible legacy.  He will be so very missed  

We are hoping to raise lots of money for The Christie charity to help with all the amazing work they do. The Christie charity focuses on 4 main areas:

• Care and treatment
• Research
• Education 
• Extra patient services

We are hoping to initially raise £4,000 over the next year for Christies in memory of my Dad. Not only will this money help The Christies to continue to do amazing things, it will also enable us to have a coin token with my Dad’s name on the ‘coin wall’ in Christies.

 Long-term, over the coming years, we hope to raise £15,000 between donations and events to enable us to have a bronze leaf with my Dad’s name printed on the ‘Tree of hope’ in Christies. Being able to raise that amount of money to help The Christies cause would be incredible  

Please dig deep if you can, this place truly is incredible and a lifeline to so many.
