Story
I lost a very lovely friend to depression a few years back, and think MIND is a very important charity for helping people in similar situations.
Mental health is not something people like to talk about.
We'll happily talk about physical health, about the health of our money, about the health of the environment, the health of the welfare system, the health of..... etc etc.... but when it comes to mental health there still seems to be a big stigma, an embarrassment almost!
So, I am doing this run, this collection of runs, think 1 marathon a day for 20+ days back to back, in difficult conditions. I will have a lot of time to think, too much time probably! And I know I will struggle a lot. I will be carrying my home on my back, and probably sleeping under the stars most nights! But I am very excited, and the memories will be something to treasure forever!
As Haruki Murakami said:
Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.
I hope that I can complete this challenge, but if I can't then I am happy to accept that as being part of the journey.
If you would like to contribute to my page I will be grateful, but even if not - I hope I have somehow inspired you.
@runderwear have kindly donated kit to my Dad and I - and I know MIND is a charity very close to their hearts as well. So this is also a thank you to them for their generosity, and daily encouragement along the way!
