Story
What am I doing?
This October my Acre team members and I are embarking on a self-financed expedition across The Accursed Mountains in efforts to raise funds and awareness for The Plastic Oceans Foundation.
This three day trek across Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro is no easy feat - Close to 38 Miles end to end and up and down three piques ranging from 8,400-9,000 ft high.
Who will this benefit?
Our oceans, our planet, YOU..
But more specifically- this is in support of The Plastic Oceans Foundation- who have been experts on plastic pollution for nearly a decade.
They fund, support and facilitate education, technology, science and sustainability programs & solutions that will create a wave of change. By working together to change attitudes, behaviors and practices as well as supporting innovative startups focused on creating solutions- we can stop plastic pollution reaching the ocean within a GENERATION!
Why Am I doing it?
To start off... for someone with my fitness level it'll be a breeze ;)
No- this will be challenging, I have been training for months & still anticipate a difficult march ahead!
BUT.. if my team's struggle across the Albanian Alps leads to increased awareness of the Ocean Plastics epidemic and inspires YOU to support the good work The Plastic Oceans Foundation is doing on a global scale then it will be well worth it!
I grew up in a coastal town in Algeria, I have seen first hand the detrimental effects of Ocean Plastics on local communities & coastal ecosystems.
It is now 2019, plastic micro-particles in Norwegian snowbanks prove that it is traveling through the air, it has entered our supply chain through the marine creatures we injest- we are breathing it, we are eating it and we are allowing it to affect one of the important players in mitigating the effects of Climate Change- Our oceans.
How can you help?
Help me, my team and the Plastic Oceans Foundation create a wave of change, by donating to our cause.
All donations will benefit the foundation directly, as our trek is self funded. Our goal this year is to reach a 15,000 GBP target, every little bit helps!
WATER you waiting for?
