My darling husband died 31st  March 2021 after a 40 year battle with the hereditary degenerative neuromuscular condition FRIEDREICH'S ATAXIA.

This rare condition only started four years after we married in 1976.  I was pregnant with our second son when finally  in 1985 we had a diagnosis . 

There is as yet still no cure .Independence, gross motor and fine motor skills will disappear quickly unless the patient gets access to specialised neuro physio and hydrotherapy..

Unfortunately, the NHS continues to fail to provide access to this kind of holistic management of such conditions

The NEUROMUSCULAR CENTRE is the only centre in the whole of the UK to provide this kind of therapies for Patients like Brian ... for free .. as a Charity.

Without this kind of therapy and exercise,  heart conditions which patients like these often die from can  often "kick" in much earlier. and contribute to premature death... sometimes before 40 years old..

In April I am embarking in my small campervan with my two cairn terriers to travel the inner and outer Hebrides to Stornaway, returing via Ullapool, Inverness, the Cairngorms and Edinbrugh. 

It will be a real challenge and take nearly 4 weeks!

PLEASE will you sponser me to complete the challenge, and raise the money for THE NEUROMUSCULAR CENTRE  to extend their work and give true HOPE to patients like my Brian, who .the NHS seems to have forgotton.

Brian was determined, courageous and always looking for the next challenge to be overcome . He was inspirational  and taught me much about resilience.!!
