Story
Hi there! I'm Jennie, and have a dog called Elle. During the lockdown period, I've been using Elle's instagram (yes, she has her own page...) to organise some mystery box exchanges for pets. I have done a few so far, and they've proved really successful! I get a group together, allocate each participant another participant to create a box for, and inform them of their details/preferences etc. The participants pay for the boxes, and receive a box of equal value in return. No one knows who sent them their box, to add a bit of mystery and excitement!
The feedback I've had from the exchanges I've run so far has been great, and everyone's really enjoyed both putting a box together for another person's dog, and also receiving a box of goodies from a mystery person for their dog, too! So, I decided to continue spreading the joy and also combine raising money for charity, and the Snoot Exchange was born.
Now, participants have to donate a minimum of £3 to either the RSPCA, Street Vet UK or Midlands Animal Rescue Team, in order to participate in the exchange. Then, it works in the exact same way!
For additional information and F.A.Q's, please head over to @snootexchange on instagram, and feel free to message me if your question hasn't been answered!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
What Street Vet say...
Victims of the UK homelessness epidemic often have scant support, except for, in a growing number of cases, the companionship of their pets. Many have had their pets since before losing their homes, which makes their bond even more profound, such that their pet's well-being is a life-shaping priority. Our volunteer vets and vet nurses provide accessible fundamental veterinary care. We vaccinate, microchip, treat for fleas and worms, prescribe pain relief, help fight infections, perform surgeries and sometimes just sit and listen.
