Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Our gorgeous baby boy, Harry Lee Sidney Smith, died while having his afternoon nap, on April, 6th 2018. Harry was only 20 months and 18 precious days old.
All the specialists, professors and paediatricians we have seen and spoken to believe that Harry was a victim of SUDC (Sudden Unexpected Death in Childhood.) We are still fighting to find out why he was taken from us so tragically and suddenly. Harry had a cold, but he was still playing and running about that morning. Doctors believe his cold was secondary and not the reason that Harry died so quickly in the space of a 45 minute nap.
SUDC is the sudden and unexpected death of a child, twelve months and older, which remains unexplained. SUDC UK is dedicated to increasing awareness of sudden unexpected deaths in childhood, funding crucial research into the causes of prevention of SUDC, and advocating for the needs of families affected by these tragedies.
SUDC UK works with its affiliate, the SUDC Foundation to support The SUDC Registry and Research Collaborative. The SUDC RRC analyses causes of sudden unexpected death to understand risk factors and causes, and develop preventable measures. Funding is required to offset direct costs associated with research co-ordinators, neuropathology, neuroimaging and infrastructure. SUDC UK supports the cost of UK families enrolling in this study.
SUDC UK is the only UK charity to raise awareness and funds for research into Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood. Over 40 children in England and Wales die every year without reason that’s more than to drowning and fires.
The sudden unexplained death of a child is one of the most
under-recognised medical tragedies of our time.
Your gift will further research and give hope to families like us, that are affected by the devastating and unexplained loss of a child.
Thank you for reading.
Love Claire and Lee xx
