Story

Thank you for visiting out JustGiving page....

Sleaford & District Cats Protection branch were contacted by a concerned couple who had noticed lots of cats entering their garden and trying to feed on the grain that their neighbours were feeding their fowl. The cats appeared to be starving and desperate so they asked us for help. It became evident that these cats were not a feral colony, but had been pet cats that may possibly have been dumped in the nearby layby.

The cats were, indeed, desperate for food and we immediately caught 10 of them as they were trying to rip the pouches out of our volunteers' hands. They are in very poor body condition, very skinny and none of them were neutered. Sadly we have so far found three deceased.

They are estimated to be no older than 2 years old and the youngest so far is aprox 6 months old. We have so far collected 17 cats, with at least another two younger ones to go, these looking to have medical issues which will need treatment. All the cats are being blood tested to check for Feline Aids and Feline Leukaemia, treated for fleas and worms and neutered before they leave the vets to go on to our fosterer.

As you can imagine, our food, litter and vet's bill has rapidly increased in the space of a week and we are asking our supporters if they can donate even a small amount to help towards the care of these unfortunate cats. With kitten season upon us resources are stretched and we are grateful for anything to help the cats in our care.

Abandoned family update 1:

We now have cat number 18 in care!
He was trapped Thursday and then required a fractured leg to be amputated due to it being so severe and the time delay in receiving vet treatment. He's now going to require a lot of TLC and convalescencing before being ready to be rehomed. Paws crossed for him!
Ps - his name is now Bentley

Abandoned family update 2:

Then there was 19.....
Meet 'Banan' this little lady is the latest member of 'The Family' to be trapped after being dumped!
She's about 2 years old and looks remarkably similar to a number of the other tuxedo type we already have in our care from the same site.
She started crying on arrival and the other 'Family' members started answering her. She is nervous but not feral!
