Story
As some of you may know, I am currently in Sri Lanka volunteering at the Millennium Elephant Foundation! This week, along with many other volunteers I will be doing the Adams Peak Challenge to raise money for a freedom fence!
A freedom fence would allow the elephants here to have a more secure, natural way of life, enabling them to interact and socialise more freely with access to the river whenever they feel like it! This would give the elephants here over 10 acres of land to roam free!
The cost for this fence is an estimated £50,000!
Adams Peak is a mountain of great cultural significance in Sri Lanka and is 7360 ft. the depression in the rocky summit resembles a huge footprint, which has been venerated as a sacred sign from remote antiquity. This was identified by Buddhists as the Buddha's footprint.
It is going to be a very sweaty, painful climb! 7360ft and 9 miles worth of steps!!
Any donation big or small will make a huge difference to the elephants here at MEF!
