I am going to donate 12 inches of my hair to the Little Princess Trust and in the process I am going to try and raise funds for Beaumont Hospital Foundation. Please read on to learn more about why I have selected these two charities :) 

11 years ago I was rushed into the Beaumont Neurosurgery department with numbness down the left hand side of my body from my arms down. This numbness had also started impacting my right leg just days before. 

I had no feeling, control or awareness of where my left leg was and had a significant amount of weakness in my left side. I wasn't able to close zips or buttons with the weakness in my left hand. And at that point, the numbness had spreading to my right and impacting the mobility of my right leg.  

A benign tumour was found wrapped around my spinal cord at the base of my neck. It was aggravated after someone accidentally hit me in the back of the head with their suitcase while taking it out of the overhead locker on a flight to the UK. 

Within 12 hours of arriving at the hospital a surgeon had skipped his birthday dinner to remove the tumour and as soon as theatre was ready I was under the knife. 

Over 11 years later and I am beyond grateful to be here today, running around after 3 children, something I will never take for granted. 

I wanted to do a big fundraiser last year but Covid prevented me from doing much. So this year I want to Mark the occasion by raising funds for the neurosurgery department that will be allocated to new technology in the department and I hope you will help support me. 

I will be cutting 12 inches of my hair as a fundraiser. This hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust who make real hair wigs free of charge for children and teens across the UK and Ireland who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment.  It takes 26 hair donations for one wig so I am hoping my donation makes a difference
