We transform healthcare in Zanzibar to save and improve lives, every day.

Story

After a long year (and a bit), things are returning back to normal. The Riverside Cafe in Tewkesbury  has finally been able to properly open, and have been kind enough to invite me to sing on their outdoor terrace. I'm so grateful to be able to sing in such a beautiful location and to use this opportunity to raise awareness and much needed money for HIPZ.

Health Improvement Project Zanzibar - HIPZ - is a small charity that partners with the government in Zanzibar to strengthen the healthcare system. We have been running since 2006, and in that time we've taken the hospitals from run-down buildings with no doctors, to refurbished facilities with 20 doctors across the two hospitals. Our work includes maternity care, paediatrics, mental health and running the general patient services. We are small, efficient, sustainable and embedded in the local community, and with your help, we can do more.

Take a look at the HIPZ website if you're interested in finding out more.

About the charity

HIPZ is a small charity with big plans to improve healthcare for everyone in Zanzibar. Our programmes improve hospitals and health services that are used by more than 350,000 people. From maternal and child health to emergency medicine and mental health, we deliver long-lasting, locally led change.
