Story
Shortly after mum died in 1998, dad started volunteering for The Sussex Wildlife Trust, to help fill the huge gap that had appeared in his life.
But it went on to do so much more than this. It not only filled his life with enjoyment, new skills, beautiful and undiscovered areas of Sussex, conservation and of course, new friends, but it also filled his whole heart.
He would always tell us stories of Woods Mill and "The Hit Squad, but more recently, he would proudly show us the photos he had taken on his smart phone, too. (proud of the picture captured, but equally, if not more proud, that he had mastered the smart phone camera!)
His passing came too soon and we are still in shock. In times of such sadness, we can hold onto the knowledge that he is now with mum again, who he missed terribly. Somewhere up there, mum is growing veg in her allotment and dad is building a fence around it, to keep it tidy......
The Sussex Wildlife Trust helps to protect the rich, natural heritage of Sussex. It exists so that future generations can experience the joy and well-being that comes from connecting with nature in Sussex.
As a proud father, grand-father and conservationist, dad would love to know that he is helping our future generation.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
