Story
*** I did it! I Conquered Mount Kilimanjaro!! ***
There is no doubt that this is going to be the toughest thing I have ever done. Myself and a couple colleagues from my work, Tata Steel UK are going to climb the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. Mount Kilimanjaro!! I will be climbing the 19,334ft to the summit to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care mid March 2012.
Mount Kilimanjaro is located in Tanzania, which is the largest mountain in Africa at 19,334 feet above see level. (To put that in perspective, thats over 3.6miles high!) This is the tallest freestanding mountain in the world!!
On my '7 day' trek I will be covering more than 80 kilometers on foot to make it to the summit. I will be spending 7 days on the mountain braving the sub-zero temperatures and battling altitude sickness to walk for up to sixteen hours a day. On summit day I will be wearing my Grimsby Town top!!
Why Marie Curie Cancer Care?
Marie Curie Cancer Care provides higher quality nursing totally free. This is to give people with terminal cancer and other illnesses the choice of dying at home, supported by their families. It runs nine Marie Curie Hospices across the UK offering free specialist care for patients and support for families. The charity conducts palliative care research to find better ways of caring for terminally ill people and also funds scientists who investigate the causes and treatments of cancer.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it's the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and thank you very much for your support.
