Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Myeloma is a cancer of the bone marrow and one that I had never heard of until my wife, Emma, started working on a new medicine for this disease. Through her work at Takeda she has worked with Myeloma UK and seen the great work that they do for patients and their carers and families.

I have also seen first hand the effect that a diagnosis of myeloma can have not only on the patient themselves but also family members after a close family friend was diagnosed in 2016. He is doing well and is currently recovering from his stem cell transplant. His positive outlook has given me the drive and perseverance to train and participate in this 500 km ride. The impact of a myeloma diagnosis is enormous and Myeloma UK provides valuable advice and support at a very difficult time. A fantastic and deserving charity.

As an avid fan of the Tour de France, cycling from London to Paris will give me a glimpse of the pro-rider experience and will I am sure be something that I will always remember. It also meant I got a new road bike!
