Story
I am running the Edinburgh Marathon in memory of my Nan, Ivy Moxon, who died on 4 May 2010 after suffering for several years with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).
PSP is a degenerative brain disease which affects balance, mobility, eye movement, speech and swallowing. Over time PSP can rob a person of the ability to walk, talk, feed themselves or communicate effectively with the world around them, yet they usually remain mentally alert. There is currently no treatment or cure.
The PSP Association are the only charity in the country to provide support to people with PSP as well as their families and carers. They are also dedicated to funding research into the causes of PSP, earlier and better diagnosis, and to develop treatments which could slow down or halt the progression of this awful disease.
