On the 13th August 2009, I will be starting a bike ride from Calais, France to Gibraltar on the southern tip of Spain.  My aim is to raise around £1000 for the RNLI.

I have a personal reason for doing this ride, as about 4 years ago the efforts of a team of RNLI lifesavers, along with the help of the local Air Ambulance and members of the public, helped to save the life of a close member of my family.

I hope that by doing this cycle, I will be able to raise as much money as possible to give something back to an organisation that does such a great job thoughout the year, and realies soley on donations and fundraisers.

As a charity, the RNLI relies on voluntary contributions for its income and, thanks to its fundraisers, is able to rescue an average of 8,000 people every year. All moneies raised will help the RNLI meet their annual running cost.
