Sid L is raising money for Medical Aid for Palestinians

Story

Hi all :-)

In roughly 9 weeks time I will be cycling the 240km of the West Bank - Israeli occupied Palestinian territory to raise money for vitally required medical supplies for innocent Palestinian men, women & children.

The plight of the Palestinian people surrounded by a "Separation wall" (deemed illegal under international law) is something very close to my heart.

The wall has contributed to the disruption of Palestinian access to land, livelihoods, education, water resources & has inhibited the freedom of movement across the West Bank. This in turn has generated deep seeded psychological & social harm for those forced to live behind it. From a medical sense, the wall acts as an obstacle to health, inhibiting the fundamental right of Palestinians to healthcare by restricting the movement of patients, doctors, ambulances & medications within the area. Imagine having to be granted a permit to get to visit a hospital to save your child's life only to get there & there are no medicines or equipment. Think hard about it !

Its been two years since the last major attacks on Gaza. Approximately 80,000 Palestinian people remain homeless, & the blockade is severely impeding recovery. 'Medical Aid for Palestinians' are undertaking vital work in both the West Bank and Gaza to provide desperately needed health care. Without our donations these innocent people would have nothing.

Oh & btw not one wee penny you donate will be paying for my trip as I will be paying for all my flights, accommodation , cycle, guides, Y-fronts etc ;-)
