Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Ever since our Daughter Grace was diagnosed with Epilepsy in Feburary 2015 we've been trying to come to terms with her condition. Epilepsy Action and our local group in particular have been a tower of strength for us with information, support and advice with Epilepsy. Grace was 10 years old when she had her first seizure, we knew nothing about the condition and where left feeling helpless by the lack of information available. Her condition is controlled by medication now 18 months later, we will always be eternally grateful for the support we received from epilepsy action and the services they provide.
Epilepsy is the one of the most common serious neurological conditions
in the world. It affects around 600,000 people in the UK. This means
that almost 1 in 100 people in the UK have epilepsy. Around 87 people
are diagnosed with epilepsy in the UK every day. As in our case
over half of all people with epilepsy, doctors don’t know what caused it
and this is why more money and awareness needs to be made to help people going through the same thing as us. People dont like to talk about epilepsy or ask you about it as they dont have the knowledge about the condition and feel it is a taboo subject but its not and this needs to change for our beautiful daughter Grace and the thousands of people like her.
