Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page..
I'm running the Liverpool marathon as a challenge to myself... I have never run this many miles in one go.. But I'm always up for a new challenge.
I've done the tough mudder courses for the last couple of years and this year I thought I'd try something new...
About 5 years ago I had a pair of knees that use to constantly ache and give me nothing but pain.. I had cortisone injections and an arthroscopy operation with lots of physio after... Also overcoming an operation on my groin...
This is when I started to hit the gym myself and started to build all the muscles around my knee to help me to be able to start running again... After a lot of help and determination in the gym I built up from walking to running once again.. Keeping myself as fit as I possibly could..
I decided to train for a marathon and booked my first one for exactly 8 weeks later and started my training... I was doing really well doing all my runs were possible and just as I hit the 20 mile run I got a stress fracture in my left leg... This has stopped me in my tracks a little but it won't stop me running the marathon even if I have to crawl over the finish line... (Or my wife drags me over)
I'm just about to start training again and hopefully fingers crossed my legs will behave this time.
I'm running this marathon for the charity help for heroes a charity close to me... I have friends who are ex military and family members including my son who are still serving in the armed forces...
Please can you help spur me on with a donation to this fantastic charity and keep my knees alive..
Simon
