Story
I always said I'd never run, it wasn't for me - that was 3 years ago. After some nagging from friends, my sister and my Dad I eventually gave in and turned up at my local ParkRun.
ParkRun's are great, a free 5k, timed event held every Saturday morning all over the country. I found myself dragging myself out of bed even on the coldest of Saturday mornings to try and beat my personal best time. I definitely had got the bug, but I always said that I'd never do any serious distance, it wasn't for me - now here I am with a place in the London Marathon! 😱
26.2 miles, that's 42.2km, that's almost 8 and half ParkRun's! This isn't going to be easy, it'll take some serious training and dedication. If I was ever going to run a marathon then I was sure that I'd want to use it as a way to raise some cash for charity.
I'm very lucky to have two healthy kids, Jake and Millie that mean everything to me. Whenever I see programs like Children in Need it doesn't take long before I'm teary eyed with my credit card out. Deciding on a charity to run for was the easy part.
WellChild is a UK children's charity that make it possible for seriously ill children and young people to be cared for at home instead of hospital, wherever possible.
Please dig deep and help us raise as much as possible to help improve the lives of these ill kids and their families.
Thank you for your support,
Alan.
