Story
This year I will strut for the whole of 5 Km, as part of the Red Run, to raise funds for Positively UK to provide peer support to people with HIV. Thanks to treatment, people with HIV can be expected to live long lives and cannot transmit the virus. However, many of us still experience stigma and experience marginalisation, exclusion, loneliness, and poor mental health. Support by people with HIV for people with HIV is still essential to navigate a life with HIV. People who are involved in peer support can move from isolation to involvement and play a part in challenge the preconceptions and stereotypes that still surround the virus.
