Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit ourJustGiving page.
Following Dad's sad passing on the 8th May, we wondered if you might care to make a donation in his memory, to the British Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre at Lancaster (britishtrc.co.uk). This charity does a great work in helping former race horses begin a new life when their racing days are over, a sort of Battersea Dog's home for horses if you like?
Dad loved racing and had a great admiration for horses generally and so we feel sure he would have loved this suggestion as a different way of expressing your gratitude for his life than sending funeral flower tributes in the traditional way.
He was an amazing Dad, Grandad, brother and Uncle, and was well known and loved in the community, especially amongst his lovely neighbours where he lived independently, and with great gusto, for the last 27 of his 92 years. The picture above was taken at his 90th birthday in 2018.
I know we all receive requests like this regularly, but it would be great if you could please consider donating in memory of this fine man.
His funeral will be restricted - due to Covid-19 regulations - to a short graveside service on the 26th May at 10:30, in Barrowford Cemetery.
However, we are intending - once social distancing is over of course - to organise a get-together to remember Dad and to share his story and our memories of him properly, no doubt with tears of laughter as well as sadness. Please let us know if you would like to attend the celebration when it eventually happens. In the meantime, we will keep you posted.
Love and thankyou,
Fred, Lesley, Simon and Catherine Wright
