We would like to tell you about something we are doing to help deaf and blind children. Most of us have our sight and hearing but imagine if you were both deaf and blind at the same time! You wouldn't be able to learn to speak properly or ever know the joy you can get from music, colours of flowers or even be able to learn to read or write. You see if you were deaf but could still see at least you could learn to lip read and normal reading and writing. And again if you were just blind but had your hearing you would be able to hear voices and thus learn to speak and enjoy music and eventually learn to read in Braille and write.

But Imagine if you were both? These are the children we are climbing to raise money to help. They need very specialist help just to do the simple things that you and I take for granted, like walking, talking, reading, and understanding what's going on around them in their lives. Theirs is a silent and dark world where they only feel things touching them.

This is the reason we are running the Siberian ICE Marathon on 7th January 2005 in Omsk, Russia. Please help by sponsoring us with whatever you can afford. We are raising this money for the charity "SENSE" who help bring joy and happiness into these children's lives.
