Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have decided to try and complete runyearary. Run at least a mile a day for a year or if injury or health put a stop to it to run 800 miles in the year. Ideally complete both. I wanted to choose a challenge that I would find hard. I know this is hard as I've tried it before and failed. I'm also not a natural runner. I Run like phoebe from friends, and as if I'm trying to trip everyone over at the starting line.
I wanted to raise money as a thank you to mountain rescue for their part in getting my dad back on his feet after his accident. In August 2020 my dad went out to enjoy a few climbs with a friend. He was climbing on a crag he knew and a climb he had done before when he took a lead fall. He had 3 bits of gear in but luck wasn't on his side and they all pulled out causing him to deck out.
Although it was touch and go for a bit due to Mountain rescues expert skill and care, along with Preston hospital my dad has faught the odds and is back up and walking in the hills. He has a long way on his recovery journey due to multiple breaks to his back, damage to his arm and tiredness to the head injury but he has been given a 2nd chance.
Mountain rescue are a voluntary service and are made up of the most skilled walkers, climbers and doctors who give up there time to train and ensure people can enjoy higher risk sports where ambulances couldn't provide you with support.
If anyone has some spare pennies and wants to help me get through another 6 months of my challenge it would be greatly appreciated 🙂
