Thank you for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page
We are writing to ask if you would be willing to sponsor our brilliant team “The Great Descenders” who are taking on a daring challenge to abseil 160 feet down St Thomas’ Hospital on 23rd September.
Given that some of us find standing on a ladder a fear-inducing
experience, why on earth do we plan to do this? Were we just tempted by the invitation from the hospital to give us “a fine opportunity to enjoy the scenic views”?
The explanation for this out-of-character behaviour is that we want to
support the compassionate and trailblazing care provided by our amazing colleagues at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
As an Evelina-trained paediatrician, the Hospital has always held a special place in my heart. This place was at its most exceptional when the skill and dedication of the paediatric cardiac team saved the life of my great niece, who is now a thriving 3-year-old.
The money raised will go straight into the “Children’s Heart Fund” at the Evelina which is ring-fenced for Cardiology Care under the direction of Dr Aaron Bell. It will help fund medical equipment for children with serious heart conditions.
So thank you for helping us in this great cause and for thinking of us during our great descent!
