Story

Mental health will affect 1 in 4 of us. It might be you, it might be a friend, it might be a family member, it might be a team mate or it might be a colleague. Whoever it is, it is vital that they know it is ok to discuss what they are going through without being judged.

In November 2016 it was my 19 year old brother Lee. Sadly and devastatingly, he took his own life. As with the loss of any loved one the pain was immeasurable, but bereavement by suicide brings its own unique torture. I was overwhelmed by shock, trauma and intense grief. So, not only have I experienced the most severe outcome of mental health, I have struggled myself.

Mind is a mental health charity offering an extensive range of support, advice and information to the people, businesses and communities. They work to reduce the stigma associated with mental health, support people in their recovery and champion better services for all. They believe that with the right support and resources everybody can create a life that feels meaningful irrespective of the presence of symptoms.

This charity football match between Rockland United F.C. XL and Horsford F.C. is to raise awareness of mental health and money for Mind in memory of Lee Clarke. The game will take place at Ketts Park, Harts Farm Road, Wymondham, NR18 0UR on Wednesday 31 July 2019, 7-9pm, (7.20pm KO).
