Story
Unfortunately couldnt take part this year due to illness and injury within the team - but will all be fit and healthy to take part in 2013.
Myself and some workmates have joined together to form a fundraising team to take part in the Glasgow Night Hike in aid of Maggie’s Cancer Support Centres.
Maggie’s provides invaluable support to sufferers and their families at a time when it's needed most. Every penny raised will go towards changing the lives of people affected by Cancer. Maggie’s Centres are almost entirely run by voluntary funding, from the buildings and staff to their tea and biscuits!
I have witnessed firsthand the support that Maggie’s provide, when my best friend Lorna was fighting Cancer - unfortunately Lorna is no longer with us but her journey was eased by the support Maggie’s gave her and her family and by how welcoming they were each time we visited their centre in Glasgow - I will be walking the Glasgow Night Hike in memory of Lorna as it’s what she would have done if she had still been with us, to show her support.
By taking part in the Glasgow Night Hike I will be supporting Maggie’s aim to have 15 centres across the UK by 2014, so many more people can have local access to the support they need. It’s my small way of showing support to Maggie’s for the support they give to so many.
Glasgow Night Hike is a 10 mile “festival on foot” around the sites and sounds of Glasgow with lots of entertainment along the way which takes place in September 2013.
Please donate what you can no matter how small, to help us reach our goal.
