Kiota. It means 'nest' in Swahili. A safe space with all the nourishment - emotional, educational and physical - needed to flourish in the world.
That is what they aim to provide for the c. 100 young vulnerable people in Tanzania we support each year. With a focus on supporting girls who are impacted by systemic and generational trauma and poverty, they look to provide access to the tools necessary for self-determination and confidence. So that when they eventually leave the nurturing safety of the nest, they can fly high.
These last 18 months have be challenging, as many of Kiota's usual routes for fundraising have closed thanks to the Pandemic. This has left Kiota vulnerable and means that the future of the school, and its many students, are in jeopardy. They are closer to the cliff edge than ever before and need urgent funding.
Please sponsor me as I take on the Peak District Challenge, and together we will raise vital funds for Kiota's work in Tanzania.
