Sewa Day West Midlands is helping schools every half term with emergency food parcels. We spoke to schools and were astounded by the number of children that are in need. With planned half terms in 2024, we are working with numerous schools to help ensure children do not go hungry. Can you help?
Hamper campaign so far:
- March 2024 Easter break - Delivered over 312 hampers to 19 schools for 5 different local authorities across Greater Birmingham.
- December 2023 Half term - Delivered over 306 hampers to 19 schools for 5 different local authorities across Greater Birmingham.
- October Emergency Food Bank Appeal 2023 - Delivered 4 tones of food to 5 food banks across Greater Birmingham.
- July 2023 School holidays - Delivered over 333 hampers to 18 schools for 5 different local authorities across Greater Birmingham.
- May 2023 Half term - Delivered over 320 hampers to 18 schools for 5 different local authorities across Greater Birmingham.
- Feb 2023 Half term - Delivered over 353 hampers to 18 schools and 5 different local authorities across Greater Birmingham.
- Dec 2022 Half term - Delivered over 300 hampers to 18 schools and 5 different local authorities across Greater Birmingham.
- October Emergency Food Bank Appeal 2022 - Delivered 2.3 tones of food to 5 food banks across Greater Birmingham.
- July 2022 School holidays - Delivered over 220 hampers to 18 schools for 5 different local authorities across Greater Birmingham.
- April 2022 Easter break - Delivered over 242 hampers to 16 schools for 5 different local authorities across Greater Birmingham.
- Feb 2022 Half term - Delivered over 162 hampers to 14 schools and 5 different local authorities across Greater Birmingham.
- Oct 2021 Half term - Delivered over 150 hampers to 12 schools across Greater Birmingham.
- July 2021 School holidays - Delivered over 200 hampers delivered to 16 schools across Greater Birmingham.
- April 2021 - Easter Break - Delivered over 230 hampers to 12 different schools across Greater Birmingham.
- Feb 2021 Half term - Delivered over 131 hampers to 4 schools across Greater Birmingham.
Rough cost for 1 hamper = £11 to £15
Food For All - The Demand for food banks has tripled but the supply to these organizations has less than halved. We saw this as our first point of call and the 'Food For All’ campaign was initiated.
