We challenge attitudes on mental health to help anyone affected by mental illness

Story

The reason that people pick particular charities is hugely personal. Naturally,  people see the problems caused to themselves and their loved ones and want to make a significance change in light of the suffering they have witnessed or are witnessing.

In my family there is a long history of mental illness, my father and grandma to name two. This experience helped to highlight to me the importance of charities like Rethink in the destruction and fatality of depression and bipolar disorder.

That is my personal experience but i would like to address a wider problem.

I would like to change or at least challenge the societal view on mental health. So even if you are not directly affected by someone with a mental illness please try to approach the world with a broader outlook and even take the time to read up on what  many illnesses mean. You can do this by going to the Rethink and looking at their wonderful factsheets at the following link in your spare time. http://www.rethink.org/resources/a

By educating yourself on mental health you're taking a step in the right direction to helping someone in the grips of illness realise that help is not something they should be ashamed of and certainly not afraid of asking for.

Rethink Mental Illness all began 40 years ago with a mans brave letter to the Times that opened the door to our discussion of mental illness.

Today because of that one mans letter Rethink directly support almost 60,000 people every year across England to get through crises, to live independently and to realise they are not alone. They also advocate to change attitudes and policy for millions.

Your donation helps to continue that conversation and help the 450million worldwide with mental illness.

Lets help drive towards a world without stigma so one day the only thing we have to battle is illness and not ourselves.
