Story

Rod Taylor, managing director of the Seaward Group and co-driver Ian Morgan have taken the ambitious step of taking part in the London to Cape Town World Cup Rally in order to raise money for Water Aid.

The London to Cape Town World Cup Rally is a major sporting event, and Rod and his co driver will be in one of nearly 50 vehicles taking part.

The rally will see Rod, his co-driver and his professionally prepared Toyota Hilux drive from the House of Commons on New Year's Day, across Europe, through Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Namibia and finally arriving in Cape Town at the end of January. In total they will cover more than 8600 miles over 29 days in gruelling temperatures and difficult (but beautiful) terrain. Each stage is timed and every second counts with only scheduled stops allowed.

You will be able to track Rod on his journey through the stunning mountain roads of Ethiopia, challenging desert tracks of Kenya and the gravel roads of Namibia by a satellite fix which will feed back to a website 3 times a day - View the feed.

Every penny you donate has the potential to make a real difference to the everyday lives of people living in poor communities where fresh water and safe sanitation is unavailable – Just £15 can enable one person to access a lasting supply of safe water, improved hygiene and sanitation.

For more information on the event please visit the Endurance Rally Association website.

We thank you in advance for showing your support and pledging what you can to WaterAid.
