Story
In November last year I walked in the footsteps of our Welsh ancestors when I was part of the Velindre group of 70 people celebrating the
150th anniversary of Welsh settlers arriving in Patagonia with a challenging 6 day trek. It was an amazing trip, I carried all my own kit, camped, and walked up to 11 hours on some days.
With your support James and I were really pleased to have raised nearly £30,000 for Velindre.
I’ve now got the trekking bug and have decided to take on a fresh challenge for Velindre.
In September 2017 I will be trekking in Peru; on a rarely used Inca highway in the heart of the Urubamba Valley, passing snow capped
mountains and glacial peaks. We end the trek at the lost city of Machu Picchu, Peru’s most famous Inca ruin, which had been abandoned to the forest for over 500 years. I’ll be camping again and walking up to 14,000ft.
Although this is a tough challenge, it is nothing compared to the challenge faced by people dealing with cancer.
I have pledged to raise at least £5,800 so that Velindre can continue to provide exceptional care and support to cancer patients and their families, and every contribution will help towards their aim of achieving
Victory over Cancer.
