Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Ok, so those of you that know me will know I love the great outdoors and often take part in events, walks etc. This will be my 3rd Marathon. However, those that know me will also know I don't often ask for sponsors for my events, so why this one?
Well, this is a Marathon, and a Marathon in the Lake District, so it's going to be hilly, running 26 miles and 385 yards on a nice steady elevation like Manchester or Chester is one thing, running it with around 470 meters of elevation is another! To put that in to prospective Manchester has 55m of elevation.....so this will be a real test, but the price we pay for the wonderful and dramatic setting of the EnglishLakes.
Secondly, the Brathay trust provide children and young people from poverty stricken and disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to see and experience the Lake District, which I feel is the most amazing place, this experience can change peoples lives forever! On a lesser scale it changed my life, from being out of shape, overweight and more interested in Marathons (from a Snickers point of view) than running, one adventure weekend in the lakes 2006 totally changed my outlook on things, and my lifestyle.
So it would make me proud to support the Brathay trust and take part in a race in the Lake District and hopefully make a difference.
I know we’re all feeling the financial pinch at the moment, so anything no matter how small will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
