Story
Hi, Thanks for visiting my page! On 24th April 2016 I will be running the London Marathon to raise funds for The National Brain Appeal.
On 1st June 2015 my Grandfather Vincent Hession passed away at the age of 77 having been diagnosed with Vascular Dementia 2 years previous. Having witnessed the cruel effects this disease had on him and those who cared for him, feeling completely helpless knowing there was no cure or treatment other than to slow the effects was very hard to take. I wouldn't wish that on anyone and felt that by doing this I can play a small part in helping to work towards a better future for people who are diagnosed with dementia of any kind.
The National Brain Appeal is a charity set up to provide funds for the development of the Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery which specialises in treatment and research into the advancement in diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as dementia, stroke, brain tumours, epilepsy and neuromuscular diseases among others. It is also part of University College Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The hospital that I work for.
If you would like to learn more about the work that they do go to www.nationalbrainappeal.org. Any help you can give me in reaching my target would be greatly appreciated.
