Story
In 2017 my son Alfie was born with a very rare genetic disease called Marshall-Smith Syndrome. After a long hospital stay, we were allowed to bring Alfie home. We were provided with an abundance of medical training and support to help us deal with Alfie's complex needs but no emotional support was given to deal with the huge changes and stresses that occur from having a disabled child.
This is where Harry's Pals stepped in. Harry's Pals provide help and emotional support for parents whose children have recently had a diagnosis of a life-limiting illness or disability. They offer support in a number of ways including therapy sessions, and short breaks in specialist-adapted accommodations. They are also advocates for carers and disabled people and campaign for change so that better support is offered to families affected by disability.
Harry's Pals has provided my family with invaluable support since the birth of Alfie, support that we were not offered by anyone else, and to thank them I want to raise as much money as I can for their incredible charity.
